SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY GRANTS for SOUTH EAST ASIA




Scholarships of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture, through the Austrian Council for Science and Technology Development

Target Countries:   
Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam for Ph.D. and post-doc grants
Indonesia for on-place Master Grants
 
Conditions of the grants :
1. Ph.D. grants: 11.280.- per year for accommodation, insurance, living costs
plus travel assistance of 870.- per year (average, depends on country)
This amount is only sufficient for the living costs of 1 person. For every accompanying family member    5.000.- have to be provided by the scholarship recipient from own resources in order to obatin residence permit for this person.
Scholarship holders will be exempted from tuition fees in Austria
2. post-doc grants: 15.720.- per year for accommodation, insurance, living costs
plus travel assistance of 870.- once (average, depends on country)
3. Indonesia on-place grants: 1.460.- per year
Scholarship holders 1) and 2) will be invited to spend some weeks with Austrian enterprises working in their field in order to familiarise themselves with practical and industrial aspects of their discipline. They will have to report their progress, in particular their research results and publications every 6 months.

Short-Terms Grants from Bielefeld Graduate School



Supported by the Excellence Initiative, the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology has been established as a joint institution of the Department of History and the Department of Sociology at Bielefeld University.

The Graduate School is offering 1- 2 Short-Terms Grants for international doctoral candidates to fund three to four month research stays at the Graduate School.

US/Canada Grants for the Academic Year 2012-13 at MMMF

Overview
For students from developing countries who are currently studying in the United States or Canada, the MMMF awards grants of approximately $12,000 each; grants are not renewable. The MMMF also typically invites the recipients to Washington DC to participate in a three day Awards Program organized in their honor.

A woman is eligible to apply for an MMMF grant if she meets all the following criteria:
  1. has a record of service to women and children and a commitment to improve the lives of women and children in developing countries
  2. resides in the U.S. or Canada at the time she submits the application
  3. is enrolled (in residence) at an accredited U.S. or Canadian educational institution for the academic year 2011-2012, and intends to be enrolled for the 2012-2013 academic year
  4. will use the grant toward the completion of her degree
  5. is a national of a lower or middle income developing member country, as designated by the MMMF Country Eligibility List
  6. is not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, permanent U.S. resident or Canadian Landed Immigrant
  7. intends to return to her country (or other developing country) within two years of completing use of the MMMF grant and perform at least two years of service
  8. demonstrates financial need and satisfactory academic performance
  9. is at least 25 years old by December 31, 2011
  10. is not related to a World Bank Group staff member or his/her spouse
There are no exceptions to the MMMF Scholarship criteria listed above.
